Castle Shannon Public Library runs a fundraiser every year called the Tiny Art Show where community members create tiny pieces of art – some on provided canvases, and some not, and then these pieces are auctioned off at a community show. This was my first year participating and I grabbed two canvases.

The shape of the canvas inspired me to think of a tiny quilt on a bed. Using scrap material I made a tiny quilt and two matched pillows. This is by far my smallest quilt.

On a wooden surface a small canvas with a miniature quilt in several rainbow squares, and two tiny pillows.

In addition, I also made a cyanotype – the canvas reacted very oddly to the solution (maybe something to do with the pH of the material? I honestly need to experiment with that.) The effect of some leaves and ribbon in the odd solution made a kind of ghostly effect.

On a wooden table, a blue cyanotype on a white easel. A small beige cat sniffs the edge of the canvas, showing the size of the canvas.

Both pieces were successfully auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Castle Shannon Public Library.
